Our Ponies

Benny

Benny (or Portmore Benny) is a 13.3hh registered New Forest pony.  He was born in 2005 and arrived at Wyfold in December 2014.  He is Strawberry roan which is a new colour for us.  Basically that means he is chestnut with some white hairs mixed in.  So far he has behaved well but it is very early days.  We hope that he will stay with us a long time.

Big Joe

Big Joe is a 13hh piebald Irish cob pony (so not really big at all!).  He is extremely hairy!  He joined us in March 2014 when he was only 6 years old so he has a lot to learn but seems to really like people.  "Big Joe" is a character in a book called "Private Peaceful" by Michael Morpurgo.  He has made a good start on his RDA work and we hope he will stay with us for a long time.

Lucky

Lucky arrived in July 2013.  He is a very handsome 14.2hh piebald cob.  In his previous home he mainly did driving and has been to Windsor Horse Show and many other events.  He pulls our larger carriage which takes the wheelchairs and is also used for riding.  He is a very gentle pony who really likes people.

Big Bob

We bought ‘Big Bob ‘ in February 2016. He is a 15.2hh skewbald and is 12 years old. He has a handsome face and very kind eyes. As you can see from the photos he used to live by the sea. We hope he will be very popular with our riders and will soon make friends with our other RDA horses.

Drummer

Drummer came to us in June 2016. He was born in 1998 in Ireland and was registered as ‘Rathdrum Castle’ and is currently on loan to us. He is very good at dressage and has competed in Pony Club competitions. He was registered with the Show Jumping Association of Ireland but has come to us for a quieter life as he has damaged a fetlock. His coat is very dark and he looks black. He is a very kind pony and is proving very popular with our riders.

Cobweb

Teilwood Cobweb is a 13 hand Welsh pony, 22 years old and an unusual colour of liver chestnut roan. He has lived locally in Mapledurham for many years but was originally bred at the Teilwood Stud in Windsor. He is on loan to Wyfold RDA and will be an asset taking smaller members riding. He is a happy pony and always keen to work, he pricks his little ears and only needs a gentle signal to go. Because of his obedient nature and his balanced stride he has won at dressage and jumping and was a very active member of the Pony Club. His favourite treats are polo mints .
